Cosmos reports two clear winners in its range of US touring options this year – the National Parks & Canyon Country tour and the Western Treasures tour.

The most popular tour is currently the 14 night National Parks & Canyon Country tour featuring five of the USA’s most impressive National Parks with the operator’s 14 night Western Treasures trip offering California’s canyons to coastlines coming a close second.

Head of product for Cosmos Tourama, David Binns, said:  “Despite hearing  that consumers are ‘downsizing’ in terms of holidays we are seeing quite the opposite where the USA is concerned.  Rather than book a cheaper, shorter, east coast tour for example people seem to be opting for the ‘trip of a lifetime’ this year and booking the higher value tours.  With uncertainties surrounding interest on savings for those who have already retired as well as those still in the job market, I guess now is as good a time as any  to do that aspirational trip.”

Also featuring in the top 10 list of favourites is the 12 night ‘New Orleans, the Old South & Florida’ which is enjoying immense pent-up  popularity post Hurricane Katrina.  “All of our tours of the deep south are doing well this year but this one is really outperforming our expectations” he said.

The National Parks & Canyon Country is offered this year with flights from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.  Special Little Bighorn departures also available this year in May, June and September are to commemorate one of America’s most significant and famous battles between the Sioux warrior, Crazy Horse, and the US Seventh Cavalry and the story of ‘Custer’s Last Stand’ immortalised in books, paintings and films.  These special departures include an extra night in Sheridan and visit to the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument.
